What is the downside of Turo?
Owners may cancel on you at the last minute — leaving you with no other options. A major downside that often goes overlooked is what happens if your Turo host cancels on you — even at the last minute. Unlike traditional rental car companies, Turo does not guarantee you a replacement at the same price. You can rent a vehicle by selecting insurance coverage (if needed) and meeting the host or getting instructions to pick it up. Turo lets you cancel your rental up to 24 hours in advance with a full refund, unless you opt for a car with a nonrefundable trip discount when booking. If we’re unable to collect payment, we’ll send your outstanding balance to collections, and email you the information for the collections agency. Turo is unable to set up a payment plan, change a payment schedule, recall a balance, or answer questions about a invoice that’s been sent to collections.Payment options When Turo will charge your payment method for a trip depends on the available payment option you choose. Your options may include Pay now, Pay later, Pay as you go, or Pay over time. Not all payment options are available to all guests at all times. How payment works. It typically takes our payment processor, Stripe, three business days to confirm and process payment. Once Stripe has confirmed, Turo will initiate payment to you in your native currency. If you have a trip that lasts longer than a week, we’ll make weekly partial payments.

How exactly does Turo work?
Turo is a peer-to-peer car-sharing marketplace that lets car owners and enthusiasts rent their vehicles to others around the globe. The Turo marketplace, often called “the Airbnb of cars,” is an alternative to renting from a vehicle rental agency at an airport or anywhere you travel or need a vehicle. One of Turo’s biggest selling points is its cost-effectiveness. Rental rates are set by each vehicle owner leaving a wide range of price points open for those looking to rent. In my experience, finding a rental on Turo has been significantly cheaper than using a traditional service. However, on the negative side, I’ve found that a lot of Turo owners charge quite a substantial fee for this service. I’ve never found that it’s more affordable to do airport pick up/drop off than it is to find a vehicle close to the airport and take public transport or catch a rideshare to the vehicles location.
Can Turo hosts track you?
Turo permits hosts to use tracking and technology devices in order to track and protect their vehicles. These include, but aren’t limited to, GPS, aftermarket vehicle tracking technology, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) devices, cameras, and telematics devices. Host responsibilities As part of our commitment to safety, Turo requires that you clean your vehicle before trips. In addition to general cleaning, we suggest you clean all frequently touched automotive surfaces. These include keys, exterior door handles, trunk latches, and vehicle interiors.Turo, often described as the Airbnb of cars, is gaining popularity as a flexible alternative to traditional car rentals. It allows users to book vehicles directly from private car owners. But with this convenience comes a mix of feedback.
