Is a V20 engine possible?
A V20 engine is a twenty-cylinder piston engine where two banks of ten cylinders are arranged in a V configuration around a common crankshaft. Large diesel V20 engines have been used in diesel locomotives, haul trucks, electric generators and marine applications. A V12 engine has 12 cylinders, while a V10 has 10. V12 engines provide more power and smoother operation but consume more fuel.
How rare is a V12 engine?
In the United States, no mass-produced V12 engines have been built since the 1940s, with U. S. V8 engines instead. Japanese manufacturers rarely produce engines with large displacements, therefore V12 engines are very rare. V10 engines are much less common than V8 and V12 engines. Several V10 diesel engines have been produced since 1965, and V10 petrol engines for road cars were first produced in 1991 with the release of the Dodge Viper.
