In 2018, Chassis 4153 GT, a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO, was sold in a private transaction for a staggering $70 million, setting the record for the most expensive classic car ever sold. With many famous classic cars, the earliest version is often the most valuable. See early Jaguar E-Types, for example. Not so with the Cobra, however, as the power and handling upgrades, plus the racing pedigree of the later 289 and 427 cars make them more valuable to today’s collectors.
